HP showed of updated notebook models and guys from NotebookReview were lucky to had some hands-on time. All the updates are sure to be at Santa’s disposal this Christmas and we can’t say wouldn’t mind to get one of them in our stockings. First one is HP Envy 17 that brings 3D display technology to the table and there is another addition to the Envy series with HP Envy 14 Beats Edition that will come in black and with bundled high quality headphones. Going away from the premium notebooks the HP Pavilion dm3 notebook series will also get a much needed refresh with latest ultra low voltage Intel Core i-series that will offer much better performance and battery life then current dm3 series that pack AMD processors. Another great feature worth mentioning is the “intelligent cooling system” which will enable the user to control the heat of the notebook that it will be more comfortable to use when in lap. Finally also the HP Mini netbook series will get a new arrival in form of the HP Mini 210 HD will also feature a new chassis design that matches the bigger dm3’s design and will come in a variety of colors. As if there wasn’t already enough of netbooks out there Dell launched yet another netbook that apart from the optional Bluetooth 3.0 has nothing to inspiring to show. The basic configuration comes with a 1.66 GHz Intel Atom N455 processor, 1GB DDR3 RAM, 160 GB hard drive, Intel GMA 3150 integrated graphics, 3-cell battery and Windows 7 Starter and costs £279. For extra £20 you get 250GB hard drive and a 6-cell battery while the top model costs £329 and comes with 250GB hard drive, 6-cell battery and Bluetooth 3.0. All configuration come in black-only at the moment but knowing Dell some different color choice should come along in a few months.

Is Lenovo working on a Sony VAIO P-like netbook?

Surprising as it may seem, Lenovo is apparently working on a rival to Sony’s Vaio P-Series it’s-not-a-netbook. So images snapped by Engadget in China – by a photographer who’s apparently never heard of image stabilisation – would suggest, anyway. Apparently snapped inside Lenovo’s Beijing office, the device bears a distinctive Lenovo logo and appears to be clad in leather. The form factor, with a notably wide screen and no touchpad, leads to inevitable comparisons between this and Sony’s Vaio P aside. Whether the device is a prototype, a pre-production mock-up or even a product not far from retail is unclear. Certainly, there’s been no official word from Lenovo that such a portable device was in the works.
