Finally the last of the new Acer Aspire TimelineX lineup was up for review at NotebookCheck. Their conclusion was that thanks to a 1.06 GHz Intel Core i5-520UM Acer Aspire TimelineX 1830 performs surprisingly well while also maintaining decent battery life of 5 hours. We were never very fond of latest glossy plastic Toshiba notebooks but when you get a Toshiba Satellite A660-14C 16 inch Notebook that features Blu-ray RE drive, 512 MB nVidia GeForce 310M, 2.13 GHz Intel Core i3 and 4GB RAM all for under £700 we can forgive the glossyness.

Yet another Asus netbok. Not quite as the Asus Eee PC 1015P netbook does feature an average Intel Pine Trail Atom netbook hardware but unlike other netbooks it comes in all-matt finish including the screen which makes it perfect for outdoors. We posted then news that Alienware M11x became available with the Intel Core i7 option back in June and now thanks to the guys over at NotebookCheck we can see what kind of performance boost this new cpu option brings. According to them  the new Intel Core i7 cpu option doesn’t really make much difference in terms of performance compared to the overclocked Intel Pentium Dual Core SU4100 nVidia Optimus does provide another good reason to buy the only portable gaming notebook in the world.

Yesterday we featured a netbook with a difference the AMD platform based Acer Aspire One 521 and today we have another netbook that is trying to add a different flavour to otherwise a very average Intel Pine Trail netbook. Sebastian Jentsch at NotebookCheck posted a review on the Samsung P530 Pro 15.6 inch Notebook. His verdict was that the Samsung P530 Pro is a solid and durable 15.6 inch notebook.  It features a good laid out keyboard, low heat and noise emissions and an Intel Core i3 processor which isn’t as fast as the Core i5 and i7 processors featuring TurboBoost but is completely adequate. There are some drawbacks such as low capacity battery (4,000 mAh) which produces just enough juice for about 3 hours of general use and lack of dedicated graphics.

Guys over at NotebookCheck just reviewed another mobile workstation from HP the HP EliteBook 8540p 15.6 inch Notebook. Their verdict was that when compared to HP EliteBook 8540w the EliteBook 8540p offers less features and performance but that doesn’t mean it will not get the job done. Netbooks are getting most of the hype but nettops are still somehow trying to win people’s hearts over traditional desktop and htpc computers. ASUS EeeBox EB1501 nettop just might be the one for the job. It is small and stylish and packs a dual core Intel Atom 330 at 1.6Ghz which isn’t exactly a speed demon but thanks to nVidia’s ION platform and graphics it is able to play pretty much any video you throw at it.
