HP recently launched the refreshed Pavilion series that feature a very attractive design and latest Intel Core i-series and AMD processors. The HP Pavilion dv6-3085ea is a new addition to the 15.6 inch dv6 series that along the sleek brown design also brings a 1.6 GHz MD Phenom II P920 quad core processor, 4GB DDR3 RAM and 1GB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650 dedicated graphics that according to test carried out by Cnet deliver PCMark05 score of 5,244 and 3DMark06 score of 6,809 which isn’t all that bad and will run latest games without any problems if you turn the quality settings down a bit all for under £730. It’s not all great though as we have come to expect from AMD platforms the battery life isn’t impressive so if you are after long battery life you will have to look for a different model featuring one of Intel’s Core i-series.

First Dell released a 13.3 inch Dell Inspiron M301z AMD-powered notebook and now it released a smaller 11.6 inch Dell Inspiron M101z notebook that is powered by an AMD platform as well. Similar to its bigger brother it offers great build quality, good keyboard and good performance thanks to a 1.3 GHz AMD Athlon II Neo K325 processor and ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4225 integrated graphics. As we have come to expect from AMD low voltage platforms outperform Intel’s offerings but are more power hungry so if battery life is your number one priority then you should look away from the Dell Inspiron M101z otherwise this is a great little notebook.

It’s no secret that we absolutely love HP Envy 13, heck even we own one. So we were very anxious to see what the new bigger model HP Envy 14 will bring to the table. Aside from the bigger 14.5 inch screen it adds an optical drive, a 2.66GHz Intel Core i5-450M processor, 4GB DDR3 RAM, 500GB 7200rpm hard drive, 1GB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650 dedicated graphics and an 8-cell battery that is good for up to 5 hours of use. Sounds very good to us but we prefer our a lot more portable 13.1 inch HP Envy 13.

Acer shows love for AMD platforms with the Acer Aspire 7551G-N934G64Bn 17 inch Notebook that packs a 2.0 GHz quad core AMD Phenom II X4 N930 processor, 1 GB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650 and 4 GB of RAM. Guys over at NetbookCheck think that the Acer Aspire 7551G-N934G64Bn offers great value for money as it features a Blu-ray drine, 640 GB hard drive, DirectX 11 capable graphics and a quad core processor all for under €830. But on the downside the AMD processor just can’t compete with Intels’ offerings but to be hones for most users the AMD will be more then fast enough.

Dell Inspiron M301z 13.3 inch Notebook Review

Dell launched the AMD powered 13.3 inch Dell Inspiron M301z back in May and now guys over at NotebookCheck posted a review. Their verdict was that the Dell Insprion M301z is a capable 13.3 inch notebook with fast performance thanks to the fast 7200 rpm hard drive and the 1.5 GHz dual core AMD Turion II Neo K625. But bare in mind that this is a CULV processor so if you need a true performer you will need to look elsewhere and the same goes for the battery life as it packs a relatively small capacity battery (44 Wh) that is enough for up to 4.5 hours that is decent but is not exactly a marathon runner.

Eventhough Alienware is the most known gaming desktop PC manufacturer it doesn’t mean it is the only one you should consider. Looking at the Cryo Pico Gaming Desktop PC you might be tempted to try it out. According to the guys over at TrustedReviews it is a great small form factor gaming desktop pc although it is not exactly the quietest gaming desktop available nor the smallest.
