Asus is trying to take on Alienware M17x gaming notebook with its latest G series gaming notebook. Charles P. Jefferies at NotebookReview posted a review on the ASUS G73JH 17.3 Intel Core i7 Gaming Notebook. His verdict was that the ASUS G73JH is a great gaming notebook as it packs enough punch to power all modern game titles while staying cool and quiet. As far as the build quality goes it is top-notch as we got used to expect from Asus notebooks. Apart from some minor issues with the touchpad he didn’t really find anything to complain about so it earned his recommendation.

Toshiba Satellite U500-1EX 13.3 inch Intel Core i3 Notebook Review

Toshiba also put her models through new Intel Core i Series treatment recently. One of the outcomes is the new 13.3 inch portable notebook Toshiba Satellite U500-1EX. We always were fans of Toshiba notebooks but recently not as much as they decided to use an abundance of glossy plastics all over their notebooks including the keyboard. Unfortunately the Toshiba Satellite U500 continues the trend of glossiness. Apart from that we absolutely love the design of the chassis. Rory Reid put the Toshiba Satellite U500-1EX to the test and found out that for its size is quite heavy and its touch-sensitive screen spoils the image quality of the screen. It doesn’t sound to good to us. Personally we never got the point of having a touchscreen in a notebook when mouse can do everything much faster and cleaner (no fingerprints on the screen). Even though thin-and-light notebooks and netbooks pretty much dominate the headlines these days there still is a big market for larger and more capable notebooks. It bid pretty well due to  silent operation, well capable Intel Core i5-520M 2.40 GHz and nVidia Geforce GT 330M dedicated graphics. Not to mention a very attractive price tag of €900.

Alienware M17x 17 inch Intel Core i7 Gaming Notebook Review

Alienware amazed us couple of weeks ago with world first portable gaming notebook the Alienware M11x now it’s ready to blow us away or better said blow your competition away with Alienware M17x Intel Core i7 17 inch gaming notebook that packs 1 GB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4870 X2 dedicated graphics chip which scored 15151 points in 3Dmark06. Florian Glaser at NotebookCheck thinks that  the Alienware M17x delivers amazing performance thanks to the overclocked Intel Core i7-620M 2.66GHz and ATI Radeon HD 4870 X2. It features a solid aluminium chassis design that stays pretty much all the time. There are some glitches though such as loud noise, heavy weight and some software and graphics driver crashes. We can digest the noise and weight it’s a gaming notebook after all but crashing is not acceptable especially if it the middle of a an intense fight that you are about to win. So Alienware and ATI get to work on fixing those drivers as fast as your notebook is.

Toshiba Satellite T130-11H 13.3 inch Intel CULV Notebook Review

Toshiba Satellite T130-11H 13.3 inch Intel CULV Notebook Review

Yesterday we posted review on the 11.6 inch Toshiba Satellite T110-10R Intel CULV notebook and today its bigger 13.3 inch brother is in the spotlight. It’s pretty much the same machine running the disappointing Intel Core SU2700 single core processor but in a slightly bigger case. We had problems getting the 11.6 inch single core notebook so we have even bigger problems getting a bigger one and Andy Vandervell at TrustedReviews that posted the review somewhat agrees with us as the overall rating given to the Toshiba Satellite T130-11H 13.3 inch Intel CULV Notebook is 5/10. Back to the drawing board Toshiba. And while you are at it replace the glossy plastic palm rest as it is a fingerprint magnet like the world has never seen.

Toshiba Satellite T110-10R 11.6 inch Intel CULV Notebook Review

Felix Sold at NotebookCheck posted a review on the Toshiba Satellite T110-10R 11.6 inch Intel CULV Notebook. He thinks the Toshiba Satellite T110-10R looks good and is a well built notebook. The hardware isn’t anything to shout about as it features a single core Intel CULV SU2700 1.3 GHz but as the result of this it can achieve a 10 hour battery life. We thinks that if one is happy enough with a single core CPU should go for a netbook so manufacturers should really only pack dual core CPUs in notebooks. This is 2010 so we all like and need multi-tasking. Hopefully Toshiba will realise that and in update the T110 series with a dual core as deserved by otherwise this attractive notebook.

Alienware M11x 11.6 inch Gaming Notebook In-depth Review

Alienware M11x 11.6 inch Gaming Notebook In-depth Review

We have posted as much info on the Alienware M11x 11.6 inch Gaming Notebook as other websites posted on the Apple iPad. But unlike the iPad the Alienware M11x actually is quite revolutionary as it is the first portable notebook with enough power for serious gaming… if you keep the graphics details on medium of course. Jerry Jackson at NotebookReview was first to post an in-depth review on Alienware M11x – lucky him! His final verdict was the Alienware M11x truly is an inspiring notebook due to its solid design, compact size, capable gaming performance and most importantly an affordable price. It might not be the ultimate gaming notebook but it definitely is an ultimate gaming portable notebook as it packs enough power to run latest games while also delivering a respectable 8 hour battery life. So Dell and Alienware pretty much achieved what they aimed and filled the last whole in the gaming notebook market. Now who is next to follow this suit. Our money is on Asus.

Sony Vaio S11 VPC-S11M1E 13.3 inch Intel Core i3 Notebook Review

Sony Vaio S11 VPC-S11M1E 13.3 inch Intel Core i3 Notebook Review

Monday, 01 March 2010 by Vito

We have already posted the Intel Core i5 and i7 Sony notebook models and today is Intel Core i3’s turn. It was Sebastian Jentsch at NotebookCheck that tested ony Vaio S11 VPC-S11M1E 13.3 inch Intel Core i3 Notebook. After extended testing he came to the conclusion that the Sony Vaio S11 VPC-S11M1E can’t really be taken seriously as a road warrior due to it’s short battery life. It managed just over 2.5 hours in the Wireless web surfing test. So if you are after notebook with long battery life you are better of with an Intel CULV powered notebook that would also be marginally cheaper. But if you are willing to compromise the performance for battery life then the Vaio S11 doesn’t look that bad choice anymore although let’s not forget that you could get an even better perfomer by purchasing also a Sony Vaio Z VPCZ114GX/S 13.1 inch notebook that features Intel Core i5 but you will have to reach even deeper in your pocket to get a hold on of those. Decision, decision, decisions…
