Just today a friend asked which compact digital camera I would recommend to buy and I just realized it is not easy these days to recommend just one as all manufacturers pretty much are producing decent cameras according to the RRP and the Samsung WB1000 12 megapixel digital camera continues the trend. Cliff Smith posted a review and his conclusion was the Samsung was ambitious when they built the Samsung WB1000. The build quality is nothing but excellent, handling is on the spot as well and it offers a wide range of features that will allow you to be creative when taking photos. Everything seems to be top-notch including the performance and the superb AMOLED screen. He did have some complaints regarding the noise levels at higher ISO speeds.

Toshiba also put her models through new Intel Core i Series treatment recently. One of the outcomes is the new 13.3 inch portable notebook Toshiba Satellite U500-1EX. We always were fans of Toshiba notebooks but recently not as much as they decided to use an abundance of glossy plastics all over their notebooks including the keyboard. Unfortunately the Toshiba Satellite U500 continues the trend of glossiness. Apart from that we absolutely love the design of the chassis. Rory Reid put the Toshiba Satellite U500-1EX to the test and found out that for its size is quite heavy and its touch-sensitive screen spoils the image quality of the screen. It doesn’t sound to good to us. Personally we never got the point of having a touchscreen in a notebook when mouse can do everything much faster and cleaner (no fingerprints on the screen). iPhone OS, Google Android and Windows 7 Phone Series might be stealing most headlines in the mobile os space but that doesn’t mean that Palm’s WebOS is not on par with its competition. This is largely due to the fact that Palm WebOS handsets are pretty much operator-exclusives and offered only on Palm’s own products. Jen Edwards at BrightHand takes the latest update for a spin to find out what’s new. Alienware amazed us couple of weeks ago with world first portable gaming notebook the Alienware M11x now it’s ready to blow us away or better said blow your competition away with Alienware M17x Intel Core i7 17 inch gaming notebook that packs 1 GB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4870 X2 dedicated graphics chip which scored 15151 points in 3Dmark06. Florian Glaser at NotebookCheck thinks that  the Alienware M17x delivers amazing performance thanks to the overclocked Intel Core i7-620M 2.66GHz and ATI Radeon HD 4870 X2. It features a solid aluminium chassis design that stays pretty much all the time. There are some glitches though such as loud noise, heavy weight and some software and graphics driver crashes. We can digest the noise and weight it’s a gaming notebook after all but crashing is not acceptable especially if it the middle of a an intense fight that you are about to win. So Alienware and ATI get to work on fixing those drivers as fast as your notebook is.

Those cheeky PhotographyBLOG guys got into an exclusive Behind the Curtains presentation of the upcoming Panasonic Lumix DMC-G2 and DMC-G10 and even got a few moments to play with them. They compared the new models to the original G1 and captured some comparison photos for the rest of the world to see. The headline feature of the G2 is it’s tilt/swievel /touch screen while the G1 omits just those features in order to achieve what Panasonic calls the “world’s lightest” interchangeable lens camera with a viewfinder.
